Dr Tanner supported my husband and myself throughout his stay in hospital and continuously whilst on leave from hospital for 6 months . He showed commitment to ensure my husband got better even when one thing failed he had always thought ahead . Furthermore showed understanding , listened , cared and never once demonstrated he was going to give up on my husband . Mental health is a horrific illness but if you are lucky enough to have Dr Tanner by your side it will get better . Will never be able to thank him enough , Truly Amazing person !

Dr James Tanner provided poor care and minimal support to a patient in his care. He failed to listen to the patient and his family. Failed to ensure the patient was safeguarded. Even went as far to make it clear he had no interest in the patient or the concerns the family were raising. This ultimately meant that the patients mental health continued to decline.

Response from Dr James Tanner

Through the trust I reached out to this reviewer for further detail but received no response. The criticism is not clear as to which patient it referred to and therefore as to a response it is very hard to accurately confirm or refute. It is not always possible to satisfy each patient and carer as on occasion the clinical view may differ with that of said patient or carers leading to discord. If this person or persons felt unlistened to this is something to reflect on and I have done so with my colleagues in supervision. Again without being able to identify the patient it is very hard to learn or modify practice from such feedback

Dr Tanner is a very caring doctor.very kind, listens and explains things well. He also goes beyond duty. Today we had an appointment arranged by another department which gave us the wrong time and we would have had to wait three hours to attend the correct time. Dr Tanner gave up some of his lunch time to see us so we didn't have that long wait. Also when my husband was on the ward,he was unsure about a couple of tablets. I phoned to explain this to the senior nurse and Dr Tanner saw my husband that day to explain it to him. Although he had seen him the previous day. We have certainly appreciated Dr Tanners care along with the hard working nurses on the ward.

Dr Tanner has a very kind manner, listens well and explains things simply. Another department had given us the wrong appointment time so we arrived 3 hours before time. Dr Tanner gave up some of his lunch hour so we didn't have to wait for 3 hours which we really appreciated. Also when my husband was on the ward and concerned about his tablets,I phoned the nurse in charge and Dr Tanner took time to explain again that day. A genuine caring person.
